Lebanon to exert efforts to form cabinet: president

BEIRUT, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) — Lebanese President Michel Aoun said Saturday that he will spare no efforts to solve the complexities that stand in the way of the cabinet formation, the presidency’s website reported.

“It takes courage and patience to reach a happy ending, but we will definitely find the solution because waiting is a waste of time,” he said during his meeting at Baabda Palace with Youssef Absi, patriarch of the Melkite Greek Catholic Church.

Aoun also called on all Melkite Greek patriarchs to “contribute to finding a solution for the safe and voluntary return of Syrian refugees to their homeland.”

Meanwhile, Absi stressed that “the Greek Catholic community has played a political, cultural, social and security role in Lebanon and it is a key factor in securing stability and prosperity in the country.”

Absi warned against serious economic repercussions due to the delay in cabinet formation.
