EASTENDERS viewers could be about to see the split of a beloved couple.
EastEnders’ Stacey Fowler (Lacey Turner) has been struggling since her mum Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) disappeared from Albert Square last week.
The EastEnders cast member found out her mother has ovarian cancer earlier this week, which devastated the whole Slater family.
Stacey’s husband Martin Fowler (James Bye) has noticed that Stacey’s behaviour is become more and more erratic, making him worry the stress is going to make her suffer a relapse of her bipolar disorder.
The mum-of-three has suffered a number of episodes in the past, most recently when she gave birth to her son Arthur, which led to postpartum psychosis, causing her to think her son Arthur was being targeted by devils.
Meanwhile, Jean has run away from her problems and is currently hiding in a caravan, and isn’t speaking to her family.
Her son Sean Slater (Robert Kazinsky) is set to return to the soap, but is he coming back to say goodbye to his mum?
As Jean’s health deteriorates, could her illness drive a wedge between Stacey and Martin as Stacey starts to feel the pressure?
According to Tombola, in research shared exclusively with Daily Star Online, EastEnders is the second highest soap for divorces, with 60% of couples splitting.
There have been 44 divorces since the soap started in 1985, with 7% of the marriages ending in annulment, dissolvement and invalidity.
Could this hint the end of Martin and Stacey?
They have only been back together for six months after spitting because Martin discovered Stacey had cheated on him with her ex Max Branning (Jake Wood).
Is history about to repeat itself as Stacey and Max find themselves back together once again?
EastEnders continues Monday at 8pm on BBC.
