MANCHESTER UNITED star Romelu Lukaku has claimed he knows the club will hire Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at the end of the season.
United are through to the next round of the Champions League against all the odds after beating Paris St-Germain 3-1 at the Parc des Princes.
In a stunning comeback and without 10 players including Paul Pogba, Anthony Martial, Nemanja Matic and Jesse Lingard, the Red Devils overturned a 2-0 deficit to win on away goals.
Lukaku scored in the opening minutes after a poor backpass from Thilo Kehrer before Juan Bernat equalised to make United’s task even harder.
But the Belgian forward struck again after Gianluigi Buffon spilled a shot, however, the most dramatic moment was yet to come.
In the dying embers of the game and with the Old Trafford outfit going out, Diogo Dalot struck a potshot that struck Presnel Kimbempe’s arm which VAR ruled as a penalty.
Marcus Rashford, with ice-cold veins, scored from the spot to send United fans into a frenzy and win the tie.
Solskjaer has been widely praised and one player has gone as far as to say that he will be given the job.
Lukaku, the Norwegian’s goalscoring hero on the night, believes that no one else can even be considered for the job.
“I think it has been decided,” Lukaku told BeIN Sports.
“I think he is going to get it, he should get it – what else does he have to do?
“Look at the games we’ve played. Everyone was talking after the first four games we played because – no disrespect – it was against lesser opposition but then we win at Tottenham away, Chelsea away, Arsenal away – what else does he have to do?
“He keeps us hungry and us as players we want more.”
United are back in action this weekend in a crunch meeting with Arsenal at the Emirates.
Solskjaer’s attention must now turn quickly to the Premier League where the battle for the top four is truly on.
The Red Devils hold fourth for now and a win over their London rivals would only strengthen their cause.
