Gas prices are dropping across the US: report

Average gas prices across the U.S. have dropped 12 cents within the past three weeks, The Associated Press reported Sunday.

The average price of regular-grade gas now sits at $2.31, according to the AP, and has now dropped 66 cents in the past 3 1/2 months. 

The AP reported that the highest average gas price in the U.S. is in California’s Bay Area, where gas in an average of $3.46 a gallon. The lowest average price is in Baton Rouge, La., where gas is $1.80 per gallon on average. 

Trilby Lundberg, an analyst, told the AP that the recent dip in prices can be attributed mainly to dropping crude oil costs.

“Do you think it’s just luck that gas prices are so low, and falling? Low gas prices are like another Tax Cut!” he wrote.
