Fox News host Sean Hannity criticized former-president Barack Obama yesterday for talking too much about himself.
During his Fox News show Hannity on Monday, the conservative host ripped into the Obama administration and said the former president talked about himself 102 times during a recent hour-long speech.
“In their quest for more power, Democrats are now rolling out their savior, here he comes, the anointed one himself, Barack Obama,” Hannity said. “He thinks the midterms could bring sanity back to the country, like when he was president.”
The segment then cuts to a clip of Obama speaking at a campaign rally in Anaheim, California, on Saturday, ahead of the November midterm elections.
“This is a consequential moment in our history,” Obama said in the clip. “And the fact is, if we don’t step up things can get worse. Where there’s a vacuum in our democracy, when we are not participating, when were not paying attention, when we’re not stepping up… other voices fill the void. But the good news is in two months we have a chance to restore some sanity in our politics.”
After showing the segment, Hannity begins his attack on the former president and the Obama administration’s performance over the years they were in power.
“Alright, let’s go to his definition of sanity. What was it like under the Obama administration,” Hannity said. “What was labor participation rates since the 70s, lowest home ownership rate in 51 years, the worst recovery since the 40s, 13 million more Americans on food stamps, 8 million more Americans in poverty and of course he took up more debt than every other president before him combined.
“Anemic growth, burdens of regulation, billions of dollars in cash in other currency to the Mullahs in Iran, all while they were actively funding terrorism from around the world and chanting death to America and death to Israel,” he continued. “But former president Obama thinks he was extremely successful.”
Hannity then goes on to criticize the Trump’s predecessor for talking about himself too much.
“In fact, he was so proud of himself, that during his recent hour-long speech, he talked a lot; about himself. 102 times in one hour,” the Fox News host continued.
Hannity’s segment then cuts to a Fox News broadcast titled “Obama mentions himself dozens of times during hour long speech.”
“All about me, all about I, all about number one,” Hannity concluded.
Last week Obama returned to the political stage by giving two speeches—one at the University of Illinois on Friday and the other in Anaheim a day later—where he sternly rebuked President Donald Trump and his administration.
During this talk at the University of Illinois, the former president said Trump capitalized “on resentments politicians have been fanning for years,” without naming the president.
“A fear, an anger that’s rooted in our past, but it’s also born of the upheavals that have taken place in your brief lifetimes,” Obama added.
"We are Americans. We are supposed to stand up to bullies, not follow them," Obama says. "We are supposed to stand up to discrimination and we sure are as heck is supposed to stand up clearly and unequivocally to Nazi sympathizers. How hard can that be, saying Nazi’s are bad?” pic.twitter.com/zvQHWydmDl
