A MAN found dead alongside the bodies of a mum and daughter in Northern Ireland has been named as Russell Steele.
Giselle Marimon-Herrera, 37, and her daughter Allison, 15, were found dead inside a Newry flat on Thursday.
Cops investigating the deaths said Alison was strangled and there was a “strong possibility” her mum had been killed in the same way.
Russell Steele, 38, is believed to have been Giselle’s boyfriend, police said.
Reportedly, he lived in the same apartment block in Glin Ree Court, off Downshire Road in the city.
“This is an unspeakable tragedy”
Det Supt Jason Murphy
A post mortem exam indicated Steele, originally from Scotland, had died by hanging.
Detectives have launched a murder probe, but are not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths.
Police searched the newly flat after a relative of Giselle’s said they hadn’t heard from her in days.
The bodies were discovered at about 11am on March 7.
Police said they believed the mum and daughter were still alive on Sunday morning.
Det Supt Jason Murphy said Giselle was originally from Colombia, while her daughter had been born in Spain.
He added that the pair had lived in Northern Ireland since 2017.
“This is an unspeakable tragedy,” he said.
