EMMERDALE viewers were devastated by some heartbreaking news tonight.
Emmerdale’s Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) aroused suspicion last night when she was seen getting a phone call from a mysterious person.
The Emmerdale cast member was then revealed to be speaking to Lisa Dingle (Jane Cox) after travelling up to Scotland.
It was revealed Lisa had asked Charity to write her eulogy, as she confessed she has been told she is going to die.
She told Charity she has protein in her heart and revealed she still has some time before she passes away.
Lisa also revealed her husband Zak (Steve Halliwell) was struggling with the news, especially following the aftermath of Lachlan White being arrested for kidnapping Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) last year.
The episode left viewers in tears as Charity started reading out the start of Lisa’s eulogy, telling her what an important part of the family she is.
Fans rushed to social media to share their shock at the heartbreaking news, as one posted: “NO Lisa can’t die.”
Another added: “Jane Cox, we’ve all missed you so much. This is not how we wanted to have Lisa back.”
A third chipped in: “OMG, wait what Lisa? Dying? What are you doing to us?”
Jane said about her upcoming departure: “Lisa is so close to my heart as she’s been such a huge part of my life for the past more than 23 years.
“So I know I will shed more than a few tears when it comes to filming her final scenes.
“But I’m really looking forward to my return to the show to tell this story and to give the character of Lisa a deserving farewell. I will miss her.”
Emmerdale continues on Monday at 7pm on ITV.
