DUCATI is facing an investigation following Andrea Dovizioso’s win in the Qatar Grand Prix.
Dovizioso narrowly took the spoils in the first race of the MotoGP season from Marc Marquez.
But Marquez’s Honda team along with Suzuki, Aprilia and KTM have all filed complaints with race direction over a new aspect of the Ducati.
The Italian team introduced a new winglet situated in front of the rear tyre.
It is understood to cool the tyre throughout the race.
The winglet was originally tried on Danilo Petrucci’s bike, but he and Dovizioso used it during the race at Qatar.
MotoGP’s technical director’s have now requested that Ducati hand over the parts to be inspected.
It will be examined against current regulations before being deemed legal or not.
The technical delegates were understood to be aware of the device, but were unable to launch an investigation until a formal complaint had been submitted.
It has been announced that the result of the opening race still stands.
MotoGP will resume in three weeks when the grid head to Argentina and then America shortly after.
