A TEACHER will serve time behind bars after she admitted to having sex with an underage pupil.
Raquel Eleana Spencer was sentenced to 10 years after she pleaded guilty on Friday to sexual assault by a person with supervisory and disciplinary authority, according to the Dalton Daily Citizen.
The disgraced Georgia English teacher must serve at least 90 days in a probation detention centre – a minimum security facility where people can access counselling.
Spencer must also perform 300 hours of community service and register as a sex offender.
She had originally been arrested and charged with heroin possession in April, last year after pupils and officials at Northwest Whitfield High School reported she appeared to be high.
It came after the drug was found during a search of her person.
Shortly afterwards, police said they found evidence on her phone that she had sex with a pupil.
The 29-year-old had been an assistant cheerleading coach at the school and had been employed there since January 2013.
Spencer is the latest US teacher to be jailed over pupil-teacher sex offences.
Earlier this year, Laura Ramos was caged for having sex with two pupils while working as a special education teacher at Central High School in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
Prosecutors said she romped with two students between December 2016 and April 2017.
Cops even had documents where she claimed she had her “best sex ever” with one of the pupils.
The 32-year-old resigned from school last year in disgrace amid the allegations.
