THE MotoGP season gets underway this weekend in Qatar.
And the Losail International Circuit paddock has a rare guest in the shape of Lewis Hamilton.
The five-time Formula One world champion has swapped four wheels for two – although he is not riding in Qatar!
His Mercedes team share the same title sponsor as one of the Yamah outfits – Petronas.
Hamilton was seen in the garage rocking his Mercedes gear which features the Petronas logo.
The start of his season remains a week away with the Formula One calendar beginning next weekend in Australia.
The Brit no doubt using the MotoGP curtain raiser as a way of easing himself across the time zones.
Hamilton has not won the season opener in Melbourne since 2015 and is keen to get his bid for a sixth world championship underway is the best possible style.
His MotoGP counterpart is none other than Marc Marquez.
The Spaniard has has five world championships in the premier class.
Marquez has so far set the quickest time in Qatar, despite traditionally struggling in the opening round.
His new team-mate Jorge Lorenzo has not enjoyed such positive fortunes and fell off his bike in practice earlier today, but will take part in qualifying.
