ARSENAL stars Matteo Guendouzi and Alex Iwobi had fans in hysterics with their touchline antics during their win over Manchester United on Sunday as they adhered to the funny requests of their supporters.
Arsenal had the perfect weekend after their midweek Europa League disappointment.
With Manchester United coming to the Emirates, the Gunners triumphed over their rivals in a huge morale-boosting victory that saw them leapfrog the Red Devils into fourth in the Premier League.
In the process, they also ended Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s unbeaten run as boss of the Old Trafford outfit.
It came about thanks to two goals from Granit Xhaka and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in very differing circumstances.
The first happened after Xhaka’s potshot from distance bizarrely wrong-footed David de Gea.
And the second came controversially when referee Jon Moss pointed to the spot when Fred was adjudged to have fouled Alexandre Lacazette.
Aubameyang, stepping up despite his weak effort that cost his side two points against Tottenham last weekend, made no mistake this time – but what was happening just off the pitch had fans laughing.
Both Guendouzi and Iwobi were dropped in favour of Xhaka and Aaron Ramsey in midfield, but during the penalty both were sent to warm-up on the touchline.
With the penalty about to be taken, both youngsters stopped to watch the Gabonese international hit home.
But a number of fans were blocked by the two starlets, who requested that they move.
Guendouzi and Iwobi took the request in their stride, dramatically falling to the floor before completing a few push-ups.
When the penalty went in, they joined their on-field team-mates in celebration.
Meanwhile, Gary Neville has pinpointed Lacazette and Aubameyang as the match-winners for Arsenal yesterday.
He said: “Lacazette won the penalty – I personally didn’t think it was a penalty, but there’s no doubt Lacazette was clever.
“He just stepped in front of Fred with a little burst of speed, and then he went over as he felt the contact.
“They won the game. Lacazette and Aubameyang being on the pitch won the game for Arsenal.
“You point towards that first half an hour, Lacazette and Aubameyang got the better of [Chris] Smalling and [Victor] Lindelof.”
