ALDI issues urgent recall of popular pancake shake mix after serious food safety fears

ALDI supermarkets have had to recall an everyday product after it was found that the product failed to list its ingredients completely and correctly.

White Mill Pancake Shake and Pancake Shake Buttermilk 375g is being recalled from ALDI shelves because it contains an ‘undeclared egg allergen’.

Food standards Australia New Zealand released a statement recalling the product immediately.

‘ALDI takes product quality and safety seriously. ALDI wishes to advise all customers of a recall of the above products,’ the statement reads.

‘The products have been available for sale in all ALDI stores.

‘Consumers with an egg allergy or intolerance should not consume these products and should return it to the place of purchase for a full cash refund, we apologise for any inconvenience.’

The affected batches are those with the use by dates of 23/07/19, 24/07/19, 25/07/19; 01/08/19, 02/08/19, 03/08/19.

This is the third product recall in as many months with the most recent being a recall of Black & Gold frozen vegetables from IGA, Aldi and Woolworths stores in Victoria, New South Wales and Tasmania.

The frozen vegetables were recalled after fears of a listeria outbreak.

Listeria is a rare but devastating illness which can cause severe illness caused by a build-up of bacteria.

Pregnant woman, children, the elderly and people with a weakened immune system are at a higher risk from listeria.
