Sky announces Sky+HD Party offer

Sky is giving customers the chance to share the ultimate TV experience with their friends by hosting their very own Sky+HD Party.

Each host will be given one complimentary film to watch in stunning high definition from a choice of three new movie releases from Sky Box Office HD worth £3.91, plus a £10 M&S voucher to kick off the party in style.

Sky+HD customers have a choiceof three films to choose from - Inception, Sex and the City 2 and Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore - shown exclusively from Friday 10th to Sunday 12th December.

To qualify for the offer, party hosts need to set up their Sky+HD party and invite three or more friends, who must accept their online invitations by 5pm on 16 November. Friends must be over 18 and cannot be members of the same household.

The Sky+HD party host and their guests will get closer to the explosive action of a Hollywood blockbuster with the sharper detail and superb quality sound of Sky high definition.

Those wishing to host a Sky+HD party need to be an existing Sky+HD customer whose HD viewing card goes active before 14th November 2010 are eligible for this offer. All friends must accept their invitations online by 5pm on 16th November and the parties will need to take place on one day between Friday 10th and Sunday 12th of December 2010.

The Sky+HD Party offer is subject to availability and limited to the first 19,000 parties.

Sky+HD continues to push innovation boundaries

Sky has announced another innovation milestone with the introduction of a new Sky+HD box that can store up to 240 hours of personal high definition (HD) television, the largest capacity HD personal video recorder in Europe.

The new Sky+HD 1TB box, so called because of its one terabyte of personal storage, offers all the benefits of a standard Sky+HD box, including access to Sky's 37 HD channels, the new HD Sky Guide, Sky+ and Sky Anytime, but with four times the storage capacity, which equates to around 100 HD movies or 740 hours of standard definition content. Sky Anytime also increases its memory size, to allow for up to 160 hours of HD content, to view on demand.

Hilary Perchard, Sky's Director of Product Management & Marketing said: "We want to offer people as much choice as possible. We know customers are happy with the storage on our standard box, but the Sky+HD 1TB will appeal to people who want to watch and store even more HD TV. Whether customers take a Sky+HD box or the new Sky+HD 1Tb box, they're guaranteed a premium viewing experience that is future-proofed for Sky's 3D and video-on-demand services, due to arrive later this year."

Sky launched the UK's first national HD service in May 2006 which has since become Europe's most successful HD service. Today Sky+HD customers can watch HD channels from leading brands such as Sky Movies, Sky Sports, Channel 4, E4, Disney, MTV, BBC, Discovery, FX, Sky1 and National Geographic.

Further channels are due shortly, including Sky News HD (Spring 2010), with a view to growing the offering to 50 channels.

Details on Sky's VOD, 3DTV and Supertelly services, including pricing, packaging and entitlement, will be announced closer to launch.

Sky+HD customers are given a choice of three films - Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, The Hangover or Angels and Demons - shown exclusively from Friday 11th to Sunday 13th December. Customers hosting their own Sky+HD Party will also be able to watch Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince or The Hangover the same week as their DVD and Blu-Ray release.
