The Harley Medical Group has reported that, with the wedding season at its peak, there has also been a corresponding significant rise in breast augmentation surgery.

Determined to look perfect on their big day, brides are taking the plunge and booking in for a boob job for additional confidence on their big day. As a result, breast enlargement is top of the ops this summer across the Group’s 30 clinics in the UK and Ireland.

Liz Dale, Director, The Harley Medical Group, commented, "The big wedding is certainly in vogue in 2010, so pre-wedding procedures are right back on the agenda, with the lucky couples determined to have a picture perfect record of their special day.

The Harley Medical Group is reporting that as the 2010 World Cup kicks off, many of its 29 UK clinics will be at 'full capacity' with non-surgical treatment bookings up 25% on the England match dates.

While many male footie fanatics have scheduled time off work to watch the first round of games in June, women across the country are making the most of the free time and booking rejuvenating peels and wrinkle relaxing injectables.

Keen to not to have any distractions this summer men are openly encouraging girlfriends and wives to spend more 'me' time, with pampering sessions and girls-only days out.

Liz Dale, Director, The Harley Medical Group, commented, "During the World Cup four years ago, we noticed a peak in female dominated treatments. This year the trend continues with enquiries for June up 48% compared to this time in 2006, which reflects the cumulative growth we've seen in non-surgical treatments overall. Women know they won't be getting much attention from their husband or boyfriend while the football is on so this is the perfect feel-good factor treat."

"Unsurprisingly we're also expecting cosmetic surgery bookings for men to be down slightly - around 10% - in June for the first time in 20 months."

Katherine Moore, 48, from Brighton said, "During the last World Cup my husband and I were on holiday in Italy. I hardly ever saw him and on match days he would spend hours searching for bars showing the game. This year, a girlfriend and I have decided to holiday in Dubai. Over the last week, The Harley Medical Group has seen a 26% increase in bookings from men wanting anti-sweat Botox treatments, dubbed 'Sweatox'. As the summer months fast approach, amidst reports of record temperatures, increasing numbers of men across the UK are opting for Sweatox.

Used to prevent the embarrassment of slippery handshakes, unsightly underarm sweat patches and office shirts sticking to damp chests Botox injections work by freezing sweat glands, stopping perspiration in the palms of the hands, under arms, chest and soles of the feet. The effects last up to six months, so many men are preparing getting prepared for the rumoured sizzling summer ahead in the UK.

Liz Dale, director of The Harley Medical Group, said: "Nearly 10% of Botox treatments in the last month have been males specifically wanting anti-sweat treatments. Many are thinking ahead to the warmer summer months and want to avoid embarrassing sweat patches as they face rising temperatures on commuter-packed public transport.

"Dubbed Sweatox, this treatment is ideal for both those suffering from the medical condition, hyperhidrosis, as well as those just wanting to combat visible wet patches and clammy palms."

With Valentine's Day just around the corner, The Harley Medical Group has seen an increase in bookings for laser hair removal on the bikini line. The Harley Medical Group, has identified an annual spike in enquires around this time of year as women prepare for the romantic night. The treatment usually requires six to eight courses of laser treatments.

Laser hair removal is proven to permanently remove hair so, unlike with waxing, regrowth is not an issue.

Figures released by The Harley Medical Group, the UK's largest cosmetic surgery provider, reveals the non-surgical cosmetic surgery market has seen continued growth in 2009, with dermal fillers and chemical peels driving the increase by 26% and 306% respectively.

2009 also saw a continued rise in the number of male patients (up 5%), who now account for 18% of all patients seen, with 'Boytox' (male Botox) and 'Sweatox' (anti-sweat Botox), both driving the growth. The latter part of the year saw the City clinic bounce back when banker bonuses returned to the agenda, with a 24% month on month sales increase in September alone.

Breast augmentations, which remain top of the ops at The Harley Medical Group, are the third most common type of post-natal procedure with mums making up 60% of patients. Post-baby surgery now accounts for 90% of abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) operations. The second most popular procedure with mothers is the mastopexy or Breast Uplift, with post-baby surgery accounting for an estimated 75% of all Breast Uplifts.

The cosmetic surgery industry as a whole has seen growth in 2009 and Mel Braham, Chairman at The Harley Medical Group stated he expects the Group's cosmetic surgery and non-surgical treatment market to grow up to a further 20% in 2010 and committed to continuing the groups ambitious expansion plans with new 8 new clinics to open their doors shortly.

Jeremy Baker, Consumer Analyst at ESCP Europe business school, said, "I would predict continued market growth in the cosmetic surgery industry for at least the next five years. There's a huge emphasis on grooming in popular culture and the job market is tough - people need to be younger, fitter, and better and this is reflected in the maintenance of personal appearance. Men have now caught up with the times and don't want to be left behind so I'm sure we'll see big increases in this sector in particular."

Liz Dale continued: "The surgical side of the business is also continuing to grow. While breast augmentations remain the most popular surgical procedure, rhinoplasties are closing the gap in second. Face and neck lifts, which had been static for much of 2009, were up 17% in November."

Regional trends show that non surgical has driven growth in the London area with peels growing 395% year-on-year at the Harley Street clinic and 609% in the City Clinic - these clinics along with the other London clinics have seen a non surgical boom with Botox and fillers also extremely popular treatments.

The Harley Medical Group, the UK's largest cosmetic surgery company, has reported that the hourglass is the most sought after body shape as more women than ever are plumping for boob jobs with breast augmentations up 9% year-on-year in October. Women having the op are citing voluptuous celebs such as Kelly Brook, Eva Mendes and Megan Fox as having the figures they admire most.

With Kelly Brook hitting the headlines in a new poster campaign which has been specially doctored to better cover up her E-cup assets, The Harley Medical Group reports that the majority of female patients look to go up just two cups sizes.

Liz Dale, Director at The Harley Medical Group, said, "On the whole women want a natural, curvy look which ensures all their assets are in proportion. Most of the women we see are proud of their figures and through surgery want to achieve - or often regain - increased feelings of confidence and femininity by correcting a part of themselves they are not 100% happy with."

She commented, "After each birth, my shape changed dramatically and my breasts sagged and lost their shape completely. For me, having a boob job wasn't about getting bigger breasts but getting them back to the shape and size that was right for my figure."

Harley Medical Group reports big enquiry increase in the City

The Harley Medical Group's City clinic, in the heart of the Square Mile, has historically been one of the 26 clinic strong Group's leading UK clinics but has seen static figures over the last six months. However, September figures for the Group's City Clinic, released today, show a 24% month on month enquiry increase, which could result in optimism amongst City workers.

Male patients are driving the September growth at The Harley Medical Group's City Clinic, which is based at Great Street Thomas Apostle, two minutes walking distance from Credit Suisse, Deutsche Bank and JP Morgan. Abdominoplasties - tummy tucks - amongst male patients are up 68% year-on-year and male breast reduction - reduction of Moobs, or man boobs - is up 14% year on year for the month of September.

Female execs are opting for Non Surgical Treatments with September bookings up 27% month on month in The Harley Medical Group's City Clinic.

Both male and female patients opted for Botox last month, which was up 18% last month, year-on-year, as City workers look to stay ahead of the competition in an increasingly competitive climate.

Liz Dale, Director of The Harley Medical Group, said: "There certainly seems to be a renewed sense of optimism amongst City workers, with surgical bookings for the next quarter up by over 20% on last year for our City Clinic."

The Harley Medical Group, which has 26 UK clinics, last reported a big hike in bookings for its City Clinic three years ago, with the Winter 2005 City Surgery boom then attributed to the City bonus season.

A Harley Medical Group patient who works as a sales analyst at one of the UK's top five investment banks, said: "Although my job makes it hard to stay trim I made a lifestyle decision to lose weight earlier this year, which left me with a flap of loose skin on my stomach and stubborn fat on my chest. I felt terribly self-conscious and uncomfortable in the gym, which was my main motivation for surgery. I've booked in for a tummy tuck and male breast reduction in November. With the total surgery bill coming to around £10,000, I'll be using my bonus money to fund the surgery."

Another patient who works for a City insurance firm, said: "I have had botox for five years, usually three times a year. I haven't had the treatment for over a year as I was really tightening my purse strings, but I feel more confident that my job is safe and so I booked in for botox last week. It was long overdue, I look and feel great."

The Harley Medical Group has revealed that recent reports from the States suggest women are binging on Botox to the point where their faces look frozen. Suffering from so-called 'Wrinklerexia', some Botox-devotees become so obsessed with their crease-free image they begin to see lines where there are none and binge on Botox to get a freeze-frame face.
