The online coach holidays consolidator claims that the sudden clamour for coach trips to Highclere Castle, which took off in February and has continued throughout March, has left coach breaks to the venue so few and far between that many hopeful passengers have been turned away.

Tours for Downton Abbey first went on sale on Door2Tour in May 2011, but sales have rapidly increased in line with the popularity and success of the series. Such is the interest that 2012 sales have already outstripped total sales for 2011, up 55% on the total sales for 2011 alone.

Sales for Downton Abbey coach tours are believed to have snowballed in line with the hit drama's recent success at various television awards. Despite not winning any Baftas in 2011, for which it was nominated for 3, the TV series went on to scoop 4 Emmys in September for best direction, best mini-series, best writing and best supporting actress. Its success across the pond was also sealed by a prestigious Golden Globe award in January, followed by the coveted Best Drama accolade at the UK National Television Awards.

Kate Glanfield, Web Manager of Door2Tour.com said: "We've had so much demand for Downton Abbey in recent weeks that we're not able to service all of our enquiries. We were down to the last one or two seats by the end of March and we're still getting interest now. We're literally turning people away."

The struggle to meet demand is fuelled as tour operators become unsuccessful in getting tickets to the castle. With the venue only open for limited periods between July and September and three ad hoc weeks in the year due to other events and filming, combined with a limited daily capacity, there are simply not enough tickets to go around. 2012 is now fully booked, with 2013 already filling up quickly.

Downton Abbey portrays the lives of the Crawley family and the servants who work for them during the early 1900s. After a highly acclaimed Series 1 and Series 2, filming for Series 3 has already started filming and will be broadcast in September 2012.

Kate concluded: "Usually when a tour sells out and there is unprecedented demand it's possible to obtain more availability, which was recently the case with Andre Rieu's concert in Maastricht, where over 2,000 passengers ended up travelling. With Highclere Castle, tickets are like gold dust and our suppliers are facing long waiting lists. At the moment all we can do is add customers onto our cancellation lists and hope that they are lucky enough to get on. The in joke here is that it's easier to get on the Inca Trail."

Passengers wishing to book a Downton Abbey coach tour may need to wait until later on in the year before 2013 dates become available.

Kate concluded: "Downton Abbey fans can be rest assured that there will be more availability for the future. In the meantime, customers can still give us a call to express interest and we'll contact them as soon as more dates are in, or of course satisfy their Downton Abbey cravings with Series 3."

About Door2Tour:
Door2Tour.com is a consolidation of national and regional tour operators creating a diverse choice of UK, European and worldwide touring holidays including UK coach tours, London theatre breaks, day trips, mini cruises and holidays by air to many exciting destinations. Instead, people just cannot get enough of Andre Rieu, with his tour packages outselling any other product available on the website.

Rachel Jones, Door2Tour.com's Online PR and Marketing Coordinator, commented: "When we first heard that Alfie Boe will be touring in 2013, we automatically assumed that our concert coach packages for this event will be flying off the shelves; but instead our customers have shown very little interest in seeing him perform live.

"With us, it would appear that Andre Rieu is still the favourite, and this was evident when tours to his concert in Maastricht went on sale. These packages sold out within minutes, with many customers calling to be added to the cancellation lists, as they had missed the boat. Maybe the popularity of the Alfie Boe breaks is due to the fact that people do not know that we have packages available to see him live."

For those who do not know, Alfie Boe has conquered the West End. After slaying 38,000 enraptured fans as Jean Valjean at the Les Miserables 25th Anniversary O2 concerts, the relentless standing ovations he received there continued throughout his five month run at the Queen's Theatre. There Alfie transformed the role, bringing a powerful new experience to musical theatre stalwarts. In 2011, he enjoyed Top 10 success with his first album 'Bring Him Home', which has so far sold a quarter of a million copies. The infamous video of him singing 'Nessun Dorma' in the kitchen of Matt Lucas' home has become a YouTube sensation.

It looks like Alfie Boe will not be resting on his laurels in 2012, with a new album 'Alfie' to promote, working on his autobiography and rehearsing for his upcoming tour.

Following on from the success of his 'Bring Him Home' tour, Alfie Boe will return to the stage in 2013 for his biggest UK tour to date. It is an opportunity for fans of the West End superstar to see the talented showman live at Birmingham's National Indoor Arena, performing classic arias, songs from the musicals and some of his best-loved, chart-topping hits.

Jones concluded: "Hopefully as fans of Alfie Boe realise that we have tour packages available, we will begin to notice an increase in sales. At the moment, Andre Rieu is most definitely our customers' favourite. We've noticed that every time Andre Rieu announces a new tour, our coach packages to the event literally fly off the shelves, and this year is no exception. Although he will not be touring until the end of the year, our customers just cannot get enough of him and demand for his shows remains exceptionally high."

Alfie Boe tour packages for his Birmingham dates include return coach travel, hotel-to-venue transfers, one night's bed and breakfast accommodation, a ticket to see Alfie Boe perform live at the NIA in Birmingham (ticket upgrades available), a visit to Stratford-upon-Avon for shopping/sightseeing and the services of a tour manager throughout.

About Door2Tour:
Door2Tour.com is a consolidation of national and regional tour operators creating a diverse choice of UK, European and worldwide touring holidays including New Year breaks and Christmas breaks, coach holidays, day trips, mini cruises, theatre breaks and holidays by air to many exciting destinations. The latest figures from the tour operator have shown that sales of UK breaks have increased by approximately 9% compared to the same period last year. This has been put down to the UK being under the spotlight during 2012.

There are a variety of factors causing this resurgence in UK breaks with the main one being the UK playing host to some top events during 2012 such as the Queens Diamond Jubilee, The Olympics, the 100th anniversary of the maiden voyage of RMS Titanic and the 200th anniversary of Charles Dickens birth. Other popular events drawing in the crowds are the Edinburgh Military Tattoo, Wimbledon Tennis Championships, the Chelsea Flower Show and Royal Ascot Ladies Day.

It's not just events that are proving to be a hit for people choosing to take their break in the UK in 2012, VisitEngland have recently launched a campaign showcasing the advantages of taking a 'staycation' instead of heading abroad. The campaign draws on the benefits of avoiding the hassle of passport control, lengthy queues to check-in at airports, poor exchange rates and the risk that travellers' suitcases may not arrive at their destination - which happened to many when London Gatwick suffered a power failure earlier this month and the baggage conveyors did not work. The 2012 campaign has got thousands of fantastic offers to make holidaying at home more affordable than ever this year.

With all the focus pointing towards London during 2012, short breaks to the UK’s capital city remain popular with holidaymakers. Latest figures from Door2Tour.com have shown a 63% rise in sales for London city breaks and this does not include sales of London theatre breaks that have also risen in popularity. Many believe that the 'Royal Effect' has also had a positive impact on the popularity of UK breaks and coach holidays in England with interest in the Royal Family reaching new heights after The Royal Wedding. Sales for Door2Tour coach holidays to Buckingham Palace, its gardens and of course Windsor Castle have risen steadily in popularity. Traditional seaside favourites are also making a comeback with resorts such as Blackpool, Bognor Regis, Scarborough and Great Yarmouth all seeing a rise in hotel bookings.

Rachel Jones, Online PR and Marketing Co-ordinator for Door2Tour.com commented: "Our figures have shown that although the credit crunch is still affecting many of our customers, it has not dampened their spirits where holidays are concerned. It just means that for 2012, most will be shopping around for the best deal for their money. Europe is still a temptation for holidaymakers simply because of its guarantee of sun, sea and sand. In 2011, many people who chose to have a 'staycation' were probably let down because of the typical British weather and are more determined than ever to seek out that summer sunshine in 2012. Let's hope that with all the focus on the UK and the possibility of a beautiful summer, people will be persuaded that holidaying at home is the far better option this year."

About Door2Tour.com:
Door2Tour.com is a consolidation of national and regional tour operators creating a diverse choice of UK, European and worldwide touring holidays including New Year breaks and Christmas breaks, UK coach holidays, day trips, mini cruises and holidays by air to many exciting destinations. Other UK products to have enjoyed increases in sales include events packages to the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, which are up 27% on last year and breaks to the capital itself, with holidays to London up 63% on 2011.

The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, which the Princess Royal is currently Patron of, is an annual series of military tattoos performed by British Armed Forces, Commonwealth and International military bands and display teams. It celebrated its own 60th anniversary in 2010, but this year's celebrations are set to be a sparkling tribute to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Her Majesty the Queen's accession to the throne. It is thought that in addition to its Royal connection, this year's special programme is helping to ensure this year's event is a sell-out.

Kate Glanfield, Web Manager of Door2Tour.com, commented: "We've seen this week in the news how the Royal Wedding has boosted visitor numbers to Westminster Abbey, and it looks as though other UK destinations with royal connections have been touched by the 'Royal Effect'."

While Diamond Jubilee related breaks have sold well for the concert, pageant, gala and jubilee itself, Door2Tour.com has seen a rise in general breaks to London in parallel with the events going on in the capital. A large proportion of the London sales are for tours to Buckingham Palace itself and trips incorporating Windsor, which is again famous for its Royal ties. The 63% rise in London breaks does not include sales for London theatre breaks, which have also enjoyed a renaissance on last year.

Kate concluded: "Although our booking patterns this year show that people are starting to spend more on their holidays once more, UK breaks still remain an affordable option for holidaymakers. It's little surprise that with so much going on around the UK in 2012, people want to get aboard the Brit bandwagon and soak up the special atmosphere. Views might be mixed as to whether to escape or embrace the various events when they are actually on in the UK, but there's no doubt that this year is indeed a great year to be British."

About Door2Tour.com:
Door2Tour.com is a consolidation of national and regional tour operators creating a diverse choice of UK, European and worldwide touring holidays including New Year breaks and Christmas breaks, UK coach tours, day trips, mini cruises and holidays by air to many exciting destinations. Last year, approximately 8 million people hit London's West End to see a musical of some sort. The success could also be attributed to the rise in popularity for West End plays with just over 3 million people seeing productions such as 'Frankenstein', 'Much Ado About Nothing', 'Noises Off', 'Two Guvnors' and 'Jerusalem' which had audiences queuing around the block just to get their hands on a ticket.

Rachel Jones, Online PR & Marketing Co-ordinator for Door2Tour.com said: "It just goes to show that even with all the doom and gloom surrounding the UK economy, our customers still want to treat themselves or others to London theatre breaks. We have certainly seen renewed interest in plays such as 'The Woman in Black' and 'Warhorse' since their respective big budget film releases. We have also noticed that as the school holidays arrive, parents still wish to treat their family to a day out and this is where London theatre breaks are ideal as you get to see a bit of the city and finish with an entertaining evening at the musicals with the delights of 'Matilda', 'Shrek' and 'The Lion King' proving to be huge hits with families from across the UK."

Sometimes it’s not just a new show that attracts new audiences to the West End, sometimes it can purely be down to who is starring in it. Michael Crawford made his return to the West End when he starred as the Wizard in the (then) new musical 'Wizard of Oz' and that saw a huge rush in ticket sales. His role has since been taken over by Russell Grant who was extremely popular in the last series of 'Strictly Come Dancing'. Alfie Boe and Matt Lucas are due to star in 'Les Misérables' for a limited run in June 2012 which is sure to see a surge in interest from those avid fans of the show.

The popularity of reality TV Shows have also helped to attract new audiences to London's West End with shows such as 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow' and 'How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria?' attracting record numbers of viewers who in turn wish to see their winner perform in their lead role on stage.

Rachel concluded: "Although our customers are thinking very carefully about where their money goes and not necessarily wanting to travel too far, lately we have noticed that many are still looking to get away from it all to celebrate a special birthday or big anniversary. We have received numerous enquiries from people looking for a London break combined with a West End show to treat that special someone in their lives. It is without a doubt that London theatre breaks have been boosted by a host of new shows such as Singin' in the Rain' and 'Dreamboats & Petticoats' and a series of new stars freshening up the London stage."

About Door2Tour.com:
Door2Tour.com is a consolidation of national and regional tour operators creating a diverse choice of UK, European and worldwide touring holidays including New Year breaks and Christmas breaks, coach tours, day trips, mini cruises and holidays by air to many exciting destinations. The most frequently abandoned or left behind belongings included various mobile and smart phones, which made up 57% of operator’s lost property boxes, plus an array of electrical items ranging from digital cameras, to laptops and games consoles.

The survey also unveiled a range of more curious items. Among the more perplexing paraphernalia collected were a horse shoe, false teeth, an arm hook, a bag of plants, the base of a full sized piano, a trumpet, and astonishingly, a glass eye.

Another common item to feature was walking sticks, prompting one baffled operator to beg the question: "If [passengers] need a stick to walk with, how do they get home without it?"

Reading glasses, mobile phones, countless books (mysteries and romance novels were the favourites), items of clothing (including a lone shoe, a pair of ski boots and a pair of trousers), suitcases, passports and keys were also among the frequently found.

A wedding ring had also been found on one coach.

Kate Glanfield, Web Manager of Door2Tour.com, commented: "We were surprised and tickled to discover such a diverse array of objects left in lost property, especially ones which people evidently needed at the start of their trip. The range of electrical goods discovered also goes to show that the over 55s really are embracing technology. Either that or we’re seeing a more youthful audience on board our coaches."

Door2Tour.com said that clothes and other non-perishables tend to be kept for a period of a couple of months before being passed on to charity. The owners of more serious items like lost passports and wallets are contacted but if still not reunited with them after a year, they are eventually shredded.

About Door2Tour.com:
Door2Tour.com is a consolidation of national and regional tour operators creating a diverse choice of UK, European and worldwide touring holidays including New Year breaks and Christmas breaks, Door2Tour coach tours, day trips, mini cruises and holidays by air to many exciting destinations. With rises in petrol prices, food and energy costs squeezing household budgets more than ever, there's little doubt that consumers are thinking more carefully about where to spend. This year however, couples are opting to put something other than champagne on ice - their romantic Valentine’s break.

Figures from the UK coach holidays company report a drop in dedicated Valentine weekend breaks by 50% compared to 2011, with an additional 72% drop in overall breaks departing over the Valentine weekend.

Despite offering level holiday prices on 2011 for its most popular Valentines break, the destination to have suffered the most was romance-favourite Paris. In a double whammy with increased costs of living, consumers are thought to still be exercising caution towards the Eurozone due to poor exchange rates. The second destination to have been sacrificed in the romance stakes was London, whose theatre break bookings for Valentines weekend have also weakened, though to a lesser extent.

Kate Glanfield, Web Manager of Door2Tour.com, said: "While there is still time for people to book a Valentines break this year, and patterns show that people are generally leaving it later to book, it does look as though this year's Valentine’s Day is going to lack some va-va-voom in terms of traditional, whisk-away romance."

Despite the decrease in Valentines break sales for 2012, Door2Tour.com has reported a 73% rise in event tours and a revival in theatre breaks London for departures throughout the year. The increasing demand in the latter is thought to have been boosted by a host of new shows such as 'Singin' in the Rain' and Dreamboats and Petticoats and a series of new stars freshening up the London stage.

Kate concluded: "What we've seen with the decline in Valentines breaks but the comeback of theatre breaks is that people are now combining a romantic break with an occasion more personal to them to save money. Floriade 2012 is a showcase for the very latest trends in gardening, horticulture and the environment, with countless innovative attractions and interactive activities for all to take part in.

Despite the increase in flower show sales, Door2Tour.com has also found that interest in traditional UK breaks are down in line with recent reports from other travel companies such as TUI, who have also experienced weaker UK holiday bookings with an 11% drop in summer 2012 bookings compared to last year.

Rachel Jones, Online PR & Marketing Co-ordinator at Door2Tour.com, said: "Although sales for our flower shows appear to be blooming at the moment with favourites such as Chelsea and Floriade 2012 receiving huge interest from the public, this has been counteracted by drooping UK holiday sales despite holidaymakers tightening their money belts and trying to save the pennies by holidaying at home. One of the reasons for this decline in UK holiday sales could be because families simply cannot afford their annual holiday this year therefore are not booking anything at all."

The coach holidays company has also seen a 15% increase in Euro breaks, with a come-back for destinations like Rome, Spain, Belgium, Austria and Germany. Destinations that appear to have suffered since last year include France with interest in Paris city breaks declining, although trips to Disneyland Paris are selling extremely well, with travellers still being drawn to the major European theme park.

Rachel concluded: "Although our UK sales seem to be down this year compared to 2011, it would appear that our customers are taking advantage of the recent troubles in Europe and opting for European coach tours instead which is why we have seen an increase in interest for destinations such as Rome, Spain, Belgium and Austria. With many still trying to budget when it comes to planning their annual break away, some are choosing popular all-inclusive holidays so they do not have to worry about any hidden extras thus being able to enjoy their holiday. The added advantage of holidaying abroad is you’re more or less guaranteed good weather compared to UK coach holidays where the weather is somewhat unpredictable."

Event sales are also flourishing, with a 73% increase in overall events sales. This has been boosted through early interest shown for events such as The X Factor and Dancing on Ice Live Tours, Royal Ascot, the British Grand Prix, The Grand National and the hotly anticipated Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

About Door2Tour.com:
Door2Tour.com is a consolidation of national and regional tour operators creating a diverse choice of UK, European and worldwide touring holidays including New Year breaks and Christmas breaks, coach holidays, day trips, mini cruises and holidays by air to many exciting destinations. Even a new judging panel including the likes of Gary Barlow and Kelly Rowland and other changes to the competition could not stop the live 'X Factor' final losing almost 4m viewers compared to 2010 when over 17.2 million tuned in to see Matt Cardle be crowned X Factor champ. This year's competition, won by girl group Little Mix, averaged 12.9 million viewers which worked out at a 44% share of the audience. If viewers from ITV+1 are also included then this would increase to an average of 13.1 million. Around 10.9 million viewers tuned in for the semi-final of 'Strictly Come Dancing' and on three separate occasions it edged out in front while 'The X Factor's' figures have fallen by 1.5 million year on year.

Rachel Jones, Online PR & Marketing Co-ordinator at Door2Tour.com, said: "We thought that with a new panel of judges and a few changes to the competition would have ‘The X Factor’ trouncing all other reality shows but it would appear that this is not the case. It's amazing to think that although 'Dancing on Ice' hasn't even hit our screens yet, there is an increased interest in searches for coach packages to see the live show. We can't put our finger on why exactly the show is more popular this year, maybe our customers know something we don't about who will be appearing in this year's line-up that has encouraged this interest - who knows."

To add a further blow, the winners single by Little Mix has achieved the worst first week of sales for an ‘X Factor's’ winning song since 2004. The single sold only 210,000 copies which is less than half of last year's winner Matt Cardle's first week tally of 439,000. The group also finished behind 2007's little-remembered winner Leon Jackson who managed to shift nearly 276,000 copies of 'When You Believe'.

Rachel concluded: "The tell-tale signs are there of the waning popularity of 'The X Factor' compared to the success of 'Strictly Come Dancing' this year. When you think about it, 'Strictly Come Dancing' got it spot on with the casting of three larger-than-life characters in the shape of Russell Grant, Nancy Dell'Olio and Robbie Savage, not to mention Edwina Currie. Perhaps it's the old-fashioned charm that makes 'Strictly…' and 'Dancing on Ice' so successful in comparison to their commercialised rival 'The X Factor'."

As a result, many are considering foregoing their usual annual break. This year, a recent survey at the World Travel Market showed that only 59% took a holiday with 5% opting to forego their holiday. More than a quarter (26%) said that the increased costs of travelling, owing to taxes, was a major issue with 31% saying that they would travel less often than they used to.

Rachel Jones, Online PR & Marketing Co-ordinator at Door2Tour.com said: "Since the economic crisis hit the Eurozone we have noticed that there are fewer people looking to book coach holidays to Europe and we have put this down to poor exchange rates and the fragility of the Euro. The recent civil unrest in countries such as Greece is also having a negative impact on holidays to Europe with many Brits preferring to stay in the UK."

Looking at recent figures, Door2Tour.com has seen a significant rise in searches for UK breaks with 5821 visits compared to only 1175 visits for France. This certainly shows that Brits are taking hold of their personal finances and looking for cheaper options when it comes to holidays preferring to avoid the poor exchange rates of Europe and stay at home instead. With more people staying at home, some are even shunning the whole idea of a holiday and opting for day trips out instead, although this in turn can also prove to be an expensive choice with hidden extras bumping up the price of a trip to the theme park. It costs a family of four on average £93 to visit a theme park and that's without the cost of food, drink and the endless queues for rides during peak season.

Rachel concluded: "I think it's fair to say that Brits are being priced out of the Eurozone when it comes to holidays. Although hotels in Greece have cut their rates due to the civil unrest there, other countries such as Italy, Spain and Ireland have seen their prices increase year-on-year. It is also having a negative impact on some travel companies with many experiencing financial woes due to the lack of interest for holidays to Europe and North African destinations with many Brits being cautious and abandoning these for domestic breaks instead. I think it’s fair to say that the longer the economic crisis continues, the more 'staycations' will be booked."

About Door2Tour.com:
Door2Tour.com is a consolidation of national and regional tour operators creating a diverse choice of UK, European and worldwide touring holidays including coach holidays to France, New Year breaks and Christmas breaks, holidays in to Scotland, coach holidays in England, day trips, mini cruises and holidays by air to many exciting destinations. Even though Andre Rieu will not be touring the UK until December 2012, the demand for tickets to see him perform is higher than any other product available on the Door2Tour.com website.

To many, Andre Rieu is affectionately known as the 'King Of Waltz' and he is often revered as one of the world's greatest musical entertainers. He has been able to recreate the atmosphere of 19th century Viennese Dance Halls with his innovative stage performances famed for their high-energy, drama and sense of fun. Ever since he was a child, André held a passion for music especially seeing his dad perform as a conductor. At the age of five he began violin lessons and after years of continuous training nurturing his musical talent, Andre graduated with distinction from the Conservatoire in Brussels.

Rachel Jones, Online PR & Marketing Co-ordinator for Door2Tour.com, said: "We've noticed that every time Andre Rieu announces a new tour, our coach packages to the event literally fly off the shelves and this year is no exception. Although he will not be touring until the end of next year, our customers just cannot get enough of him and demand for his shows has been exceptionally high."

Door2Tour.com, which specialises in coach holidays, credits the tour sales to Andre Rieu's appeal as a highly respected performer. Since graduating in Brussels, Andre Rieu has become an award-winning violinist and conductor and he founded The Johann Strauss Orchestra in 1987. His Orchestra began with only 12 members and has since grown to between 50-60 young musicians. He performs all over the world and his 2012 tour will reach UK shores in December. Andre Rieu will be performing hits from his back catalogue that include 'Strauss & Co' and his latest release 'And the Waltz Goes On.'

Rachel concluded: "I think it's fair to say that Andre Rieu and his Johann Strauss Orchestra have been instrumental in reviving Waltz music and bringing it to a whole new audience. This will be proved next December when they bring their show to the UK for a series of unmissable concerts in London, Birmingham, Nottingham and Manchester. We are advising our customers that if they would like to see him live, then now is the time to book before our packages sell out."

Anyone who does manage to get their hands on tickets to see an Andre Rieu performance are in for an evening filled with melodies, waltzes, surprises, balloons and performances by a variety of superb tenors and sopranos.

About Door2Tour.com:
Door2Tour.com is a consolidation of national and regional tour operators creating a diverse choice of UK, European and worldwide touring holidays including coach trips to london, New Year breaks and Christmas breaks, coach holidays in spain, day trips, mini cruises and holidays by air to many exciting destinations. There could be many reasons for this change but research has shown that poor exchange rates and the temperamental weather are putting people off from travelling to Europe for Christmas breaks.

Rachel Jones, Online PR & Marketing Co-ordinator at Door2Tour.com, said: "Last year the snow caused major problems on the roads, rail and at the airports leaving many people stranded for hours. With this in mind, we believe our customers do not want the risk of booking an overseas break in case the weather interferes with their plans so instead they are looking a lot closer to home when it comes to visiting Christmas markets preferring the UK to Europe. In many cases, people are choosing Christmas markets that are local to them so they can simply walk if the weather gets really bad."

Door2Tour.com has noticed a 138% increase in keyword searches for Christmas market tours with 105% increase for Christmas market breaks. The term 'Xmas markets' has seen a 17% rise in searches. Christmas traffic on Door2Tour.com started around the same time as last year but the volume of visits has been higher. Bookings for breaks departing before and during the festive season have seen a rise of 12% year on year proving that despite the economic instability of the world, people still want to have their break away even if it means making cutbacks in other areas to help fund the trip.

Rachel concluded: "Those who opt to stay in the UK will not be disappointed as the Christmas markets here still contain all the magical elements of those found in Europe, it just means you don't have to travel far nor worry about the hassle of exchange rates and hopefully the weather will not intervene either. Whether customers opt to visit the popular Christmas markets of Bath, York, Lincoln, Rochester or indeed somewhere else in the UK - they are more or less guaranteed a magical shopping experience providing the perfect opportunity to search for that elusive Xmas gift for that someone special."

It’s fair to say that out of all the UK Christmas markets available, the Dickens Christmas Market at Rochester Castle (open from 30 Nov to 18 Dec 2011) is certainly proving to be a popular choice with Door2Tour.com customers. Visitors to the Dickens Christmas Market, set in the grounds of Rochester Castle, can expect to find entertainment for the whole family including a Santa's Grotto as well as Dickensian Characters milling about the streets. There's a wide range of German-style chalets selling all sorts of handmade gifts, treats and unusual festive items. The increase is thought to be down to the continued popularity of the TV series, heightened media attention surrounding the new judges, the drama surrounding Cheryl Cole & whether she will/will not appear in this series and not forgetting the buzz that a buff-looking Gary Barlow is creating too.

Rachel Jones, Door2Tour.com's Online PR & Marketing Co-ordinator commented: "We knew that coach breaks to 'The X Factor Live Tour' were already popular with our customers but I don't think anyone here realised just how much until the reformatted show hit TV screens across the UK. Interest in the new series of The X Factor was already at its peak with the very public spat between Cheryl Cole and Simon Cowell but, the reformatting of the show and the exciting changes to the Judging Panel are all having a positive effect too. Tours have been on sale since autumn last year, and while there has been steady interest in those wishing to visit the East End venue since the start of 2011, packages to annual events such as the Wimbledon and Royal Ascot have so far outsold those to the Park four-fold.

Major factors likely to have diluted initial interest are the Royal Wedding and the incompletion of the Stadium, which was under construction until 29th March. It is expected that with patriotism riding high, the last piece of turf laid down in the Stadium and Olympic ticket payment imminent, all eyes should revert to the 2012 Games.

Kate Glanfield, web manager of Door2Tour.com commented: "Now that the ticket deadline has bought the Olympics to the forefront of people's minds, and after the excitement of the Royal Wedding, we should start to see a rejuvenated interest for Olympic Park tours. The rise in interest for UK coach breaks could be down to some of the major Travel Companies introducing fuel surcharges on their overseas tours and this could be one of the reasons why Door2Tour.com has noticed a decline in interest for European and Worldwide breaks.

Compared to UK coach holidays achieving an increase in sales of 65% in the first 3 months of 2011, there was only an 8% rise in European breaks whilst holidays to worldwide destinations only received an increase in sales of 1%. The addition of fuel surcharges is quite possibly one of the main reasons why customers are opting for coach travel and for UK coach breaks compared to holidays overseas but other factors could be the current financial unrest in Euro-zone favourites such as Portugal, Greece and Ireland as well as the poor exchange rates for the Euro and Sterling.

Rachel Jones, Online PR & Marketing Co-ordinator, for Door2Tour.com said: "It certainly looks like staycations are here to stay if our recent sales figures are anything to go by. UK coach breaks remain popular with many of our customers booking holidays to traditional seaside resorts such as the Isle of Wight, Torquay, Newquay, Eastbourne and Scarborough as opposed to overseas."

It's not just coach holidays in England that have seen a rise in sales bookings, with event tour packages appearing to have helped boost visitor numbers to other areas of the UK. The Edinburgh Military Tattoo helped to increase interest in coach holidays in Scotland, represented by an increase in sales of 135% for the Military Event compared to the same period in 2010. Old favourites such as London city breaks and theatre breaks remain popular with a rise in sales of 77%. Other events such as the Chelsea Flower Show, Royal Ascot, Wimbledon and the Royal Wedding mean that London will be attracting a vast number of visitors during 2011 - especially if the weather is good.

Rachel concluded: "Customers appear to be much more aware of potential risks when booking a holiday, and coach holidays minimise that risk. They will not be hit with any hidden extras such as airport taxes, car-parking fees etc as everything is included in one great-value price. Search trends for UK coach holidays on Google remain consistently high, which just goes to show that more and more customers are seeing coach holidays as a much more reliable way to travel."

About Door2Tour.com:
Door2Tour.com is a consolidation of national and regional tour operators creating a diverse choice of UK, European and worldwide touring holidays including coach holidays in Ireland, events packages, theatre breaks, cruises and holidays by air to many exciting destinations. Celebrity skaters lining up to appear include Radio 1's 'Comedy Dave', Vanilla Ice and 2010 winner Hayley Tammadon, as well as Sunday's finalists Laura Hamilton, Chloe Madeley and newly-crowned 2011 winner, Sam Attwater.

The incredible increase in breaks is thought to be down to the growing popularity of the TV series, heightened media attention surrounding catty judge Jason Gardiner, as well as the continued following of loyal Torvill and Dean fans looking to relive the moment the pair skated their way to gold at the 1984 Winter Olympics with Bolero.

Rachel Jones, Door2Tour.com's Online PR & Marketing co-ordinator commented: "It's unusual to see an increase like this for a particular event, but we believe that the emergence of other dance shows like So You Think You Can Dance, Comic Relief's Let's Dance and Strictly Come Dancing have made dance-related breaks overall incredibly popular."

The coach holidays consolidator also believes that the success of this year's live Dancing On Ice tours could be due to the profiles of this year's celebs, like lovable Essex lad Jeff Brazier and Loose Women's Denise Welch.

Limited spaces are still available on the Dancing on Ice tour in Birmingham, which includes return coach travel, hotel-to-venue transfers, one night's bed and breakfast accommodation, a ticket to 'Dancing on Ice Live at Birmingham's NIA Arena, an excursion to Stratford-upon-Avon and the services of a tour manager.

About Door2Tour:
Door2Tour.com is a consolidation of national and regional tour operators creating a diverse choice of UK, European and worldwide touring holidays including New Year breaks and Christmas breaks, coach holidays, day trips, mini cruises and holidays by air to many exciting destinations.
