Cloggs.co.uk shortlisted for Drapers award

Cloggs.co.uk, the Birmingham based shoe retailer, has been shortlisted in the Drapers Footwear Awards 2010.

The 2000 sq ft Cloggs.co.uk store next to Selfridges in the Bullring opened in September 2009 and is one of the finalists in the Best New Store category.

The awards celebrate the best footwear independents, multiple specialists and high street fashion chains, as well as recognising the best brands of the year and the most promising student footwear designers. This year, names such as Schuh, Barratts and Clarks are among the contenders for the various awards.

Cloggs.co.uk, which is run by local brothers Nick and Chris Thomas and business partner Damian Scarlett, faces stiff competition from The Natural Shoe Store in London, Gerry McGuire’s in Ireland, Lily T in Buckinghamshire, Shoefair in Northern Ireland and SoleLution in Bristol.

Nick Thomas, company director of Cloggs.co.uk, said: "We're really pleased that the Bullring store has made it onto the shortlist.

"As far as shoe shops go it's pretty unique, incorporating many of the features of our online shop, such as free next day delivery if the customer requests it and access to the full range of available styles via touch screen internet terminals.

"We also offer the same deals and discounts in store as we do online, which is unusual amongst most high street retailers.

"Our focus is on offering an extensive selection of seasonal fashion footwear, quality customer service and competitive prices.

The Drapers Footwear Awards 2010 will take place at the five-star Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London. On the evening winners will also be chosen from the Independent Footwear Retailer of the Year, Multiple Footwear Retailer of the Year, Best Footwear Offer in a Fashion Multiple, Kids Footwear Retailer of the Year, Best New Store, Comfort Footwear Retailer of the Year, Family Footwear Retailer of the Year, Student Footwear Designer of the Year, Store/Concession Manager of the Year, Footwear Etailer of the Year and Buyer of the Year categories. Drapers will also announce their Footwear Brand of the Year and present a Lifetime Achievement Award.

Cloggs put Fitflops on trial in the Bullring

Cloggs.co.uk is giving sceptics in Birmingham (UK) the chance to put the thigh toning sandals Fitflops to the test. On 7th May the Bullring based shoe retailer Cloggs.co.uk will be giving everyone the chance to try the so-called 'shoes with the gym built in'.

At the event, Cloggs.co.uk will be demonstrating how Fitflops use biomechanical engineering to help wearers improve their posture and burn more calories than they would through walking normally. The sandals have specially designed soles that destabilise the feet, making the muscles in the lower body work harder when the wearer is walking around.

Fitflops have been available since 2007, and when they first came out the huge demand for the shoes saw them sell out all over the world. Cloggs.co.uk director, Nick Thomas, believes that even more people are likely to be wearing them this summer.

"Fitflops have universal appeal because of the way they combine comfort, style and fitness, things which people of all ages are looking for in a summer shoe.

"This year we have bought as much stock as we possibly can because as soon as spring arrives Fitflops always start selling really quickly.

"Birmingham may be the farthest UK city from the sea but it's the time of year when everyone starts thinking about getting in shape for the beach.

"If you're not a fan of the gym then Fitflops could be a good way to start toning up for your summer holiday."

Cloggs.co.uk currently have the Pietra, Electra, Oasis and Walkstar styles of Fitflops in stock online and in their Bullring store, ready for an expected rush in demand.

The Fitflops demonstration will take place between 10am and 6pm on Friday 7 May outside the Cloggs.co.uk store on the ground floor of the Bullring.

Cloggs supports Metropolitan Police efforts to crack down on bogus UGG Boots

Cloggs, the UK shoe retailer, has voiced its approval of recent actions taken by the Metropolitan Police Force, shutting down hundreds of websites selling fake UGG Boots.

In an effort to crack down on bogus UGG Boots websites (either selling fake UGG Boots or fake websites that were purely designed to conduct identity fraud), the Metropolitan police have shut down over 400 illegal UGGs websites in recent days. This ensures that legitimate sellers like Cloggs.co.uk are left to sell real UGG Boots on real websites, and that the consumer's pockets are protected.

However, even though the Metropolitan police have taken this drastic measure, this doesn't mean to say that there won't still be bogus websites out there. Whilst this will cause concern amongst potential buyers, Cloggs.co.uk knows just how to identify genuine UGGs websites from fakes. In association with Consumer Direct, the government service for advice on consumer issues, Cloggs.co.uk has produced a checklist on its website that consumers can use to check sites for legitimacy before they part with their hard earned cash.

Cloggs.co.uk won't let Royal Mail strikes affect delivery times

Royal Mail is experiencing a series of one day strikes that will cripple the UK postal service, but Cloggs is determined not to let it affect delivery of shoes to its customers. Offering an alternative, free delivery service via another carrier, Cloggs.co.uk has put its customers first once again.

Cloggs has announced the opening of a new flagship retail shoe store in Birmingham. The new Midlands shoe store opened its doors in the Bull Ring Shopping Centre on September 12th, and marks a huge milestone for the company.

Until recently, Cloggs had concentrated on growing its business online. Now, the opening of the new store in the heart of the Bullring Shopping Centre will put it at the forefront of one of Europe's largest shopping venues, alongside some of the UK's largest brands.

Stocking all of the major brands Cloggs sells online in a state-of- the-art shop, retail customers are now able to buy UGG Boots, including all the latest must-have styles such as UGG Bailey Button and Cardy UGGs. Shoppers at the new Cloggs.co.uk Bullring store will also be able to purchase all the classic boot brands ready for the winter such as Dr Martens, Fitflop Boots and Timberland Boots.
