French Connection model to appear in Pirates of the Caribbean

French Connection's 'THE WOMAN', Astrid Bergès-Frisbey, is set to appear in the next instalment of Pirates of the Caribbean, On Stranger Tides, which is due out later this year.

Bergès-Frisbey, the current face of French Connection's Spring Summer collection - the 2010 'THE WOMAN' campaign - has been selected by producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Rob Marshall to star in the key role of Syrena, a beautiful and alluring young mermaid, in Walt Disney Pictures/Jerry Bruckheimer Films epic adventure "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" the fourth in the blockbuster series of films.

Bergès-Frisbey joins Johnny Depp, returning in his iconic role of Captain Jack Sparrow, and Penelope Cruz who will play Blackbeard's daughter. The fourth Pirates movie begins filming this June in Hawaii, Great Britain and Los Angeles. The film is slated to open on May 20, 2011.

Astrid Bergès-Frisbey was born in Barcelona of French-American and Catalan parentage and, now based in Paris, is one of France's brightest young stars, appearing in French films "La Fille du Puisatier", "Bruc", "Extase", "La Premiere Etoile" and "Un Barrage Contre le Pacifique".

Astrid took her first steps into the fashion world fronting French Connection's Spring Summer 10 international campaign and is set to continue working with the brand for Autumn Winter 2010.

French Connection has revealed its new collection for women, High Summer 2010.

The new summer fashion collection takes inspiration from the chic shores of Ibiza where pared back bohemian style mixes with luxurious glamour. Maxi dresses are given tribal detailing through embellishment and bold jungle and Aztec prints in floaty jersey or fly away chiffon. Jumpsuits are beaded at the waist in crepe or in silk with a belted industrial cut in soft turquoise.

Shorts follow the utility trend in khaki tones with gold buttons and teamed with crisp white embroidery anglaise smock tops and tie front shirts. Denim is updated with the hero, a washed denim dress, given new rope detailing with a belted waist with cross over straps. Tie dye makes a comeback on the draped jerseys, vests, scarves and swimwear featured in the collection. Kitsch printed oversized vests and t-shirts feature iconic summer prints including sunglasses, ice-creams and 'wish you were here' slogans.

Fairytale maxi dresses with frill detail and embellished off the shoulder silk dresses give the summer a luxurious vibe with the delicate beaded playsuit being key.

Accessories follow the laid back vibe with studded leather bags, raffia beach bags and printed shoppers. Swimwear features bold Hawaiian prints and bronze fabrics with matching beach cover-ups. French Connection launches exclusive new Kick Ass collection

French Connection launches exclusive range of tees and sweats to celebrate the hotly anticipated 2010 superhero action movie Kick Ass.

The new film includes Executive Producer credits for French Connection UK Chairman and CEO, Stephen Marks, and has been adapted from Mark Millar’s best-selling comic book series of the same name.

Kick Ass tells the story of an average teenager who is inspired by his favourite comic books and decides to become a real-life superhero himself. However, the self-titled ‘Kick-Ass’ is devoid of one important thing… superpowers.

Young Brit star Aaron Johnson plays the lead role of Dave Lizewski/ Kick-Ass, but no superhero is complete without a sidekick. Nicholas Cage (a.k.a. Big Daddy) plays a former cop who, in his quest to bring down an evil drug lord, has trained his 11-year-old daughter to be a ruthless sword-wielding vigilante Hit Girl.

The film's script was written by Matthew Vaughn and Jane Goldman, who previously wrote the smash hit Stardust together. Vaughn directed the film, and produced it with Brad Pitt (among others), cementing its Hollywood cool credentials.

The film's superhero costumes strike just the right balance between looking ridiculous and kind of cool - they are accessible enough for even non-superheroes to aspire to trying this at least once for themselves. French Connection launches ladieswear Spring Summer 2010

French Connection launches Spring Summer 10 collection, full of colour, shine and all things fine. It's a tale of two style tribes - 50's teen rockabilly's hop amongst punks from the 80's, the clash is evident on both proportions and tailoring giving a new 50's slant with graphic florals creating a softer, vintage backdrop.

The spring summer style collection sits like a back-to-school pencil case full of Caran d`Ache coloured hues - everything fresh and exciting ready for its first outing. The mix of casual to formal pieces is even, endorsing the freedom of creating an individual style with a juxtaposition of clean cut lines with softer silhouettes in fluid fabrics.

Bold electric blue blazers are worn oversized with contrasting purple lining over neon Hawaiian floral dresses and exposed zips. The double-breast blazer dress with bold gold buttons gives a nod to the 50's whilst providing a take on an 80's classic. Bold retro prints in deep jewel colours are mixed with fluro brights on high shine batwing dresses.

Trousers are a contrast of silhouettes - sharp cigarette pants in black, neon Hawaiian print or electric blue, are given gold zip detailing on the waist and ankle, to be worn with oversized shirts or bustier tops - Sandra Dee style. Pleated harem trousers in soft to touch fabrics feature throughout the range in muted tones of beige and black - contrasted with striped or draped vests. 50's rain Macs are updated in bold blue with gold branded buttons, which can be worn cropped and oversized for a more relaxed feel.

Knitwear is playful, with multi coloured liquorice Allsort stripes in short sleeve jumpers and body con skirts - and a hero piece knitted dress with batwing sleeve detail.

French Connection iconic embellished dresses and mini skirts have moved on to incorporate more intricate, eclectic designs in acid brights. Fluorescent vintage floral prints adorn high waisted skirts, peplum detailed dresses, pinafores and bustiers - set against black to give them a rock'n'roll edge. Formal, muted pieces create a subtle backdrop to the brash range with colonial inspired pieces including silk all-in-one jumpsuits, cropped front pleat blazers and belted shirt dresses - all in a soft pebble tone.

A capsule range of monochrome pieces create easy to wear, chic style. Black silk dresses are given sheer shoulder and back cut out detailing; a full length black high shine maxi dress exudes Grecian chic, with a block colour dress with back zip detailing offering a stylish alternative to classic work wear.

Shoulders are still exaggerated but given softer detailing with contrast colour ruffles on dresses, t-shirts and tops. As spring turns into summer the collection evolves into clean 90's inspired lines mixed with 50's beachwear and retro Hawaiian florals on hot pants and cut out detail dresses.

It's like a washed out photograph from a 50's vacation in Hawaii gets discovered in the 80's and inspires a collection where fashion means business but also lots of fun.

French Connection launches Rock Legends T shirt range

French Connection has launched its new Rock Legends T-shirt range, featuring iconic images of four of rock's biggest stars.

Available online and on the high street, the range features four different T-shirts each highlighting a different rock legend. Mens T-shirts in the range feature images of Kurt Cobain of Nirvana, guitar virtuoso Jimi Hendrix and the infamous punk rocker Sid Vicious. The fourth design is features Debbie Harry of Blondie and is available for both men and women. The T-shirts are available in white, grey or black and also feature a simple and discreet French Connection flag logo on the bottom left hand seam.

Jennifer Roebuck, Head of Ecommerce at French Connection, said: "Our rock n' roll inspired capsule tees feature some of rocks greatest legends and were a welcome addition to our collection. We wanted a rock-tastic red carpet appeal for the collection and we felt all these stars portrayed this."

The new French Connection T-shirt range has been designed to compliment a casual rocker look when combined with denim shorts or jeans but can also contribute to a more formal but rebellious style when worn underneath a suit jacket. French Connection launches Babywear

French Connection, the fashion clothing designers, has announced the arrival of its first ever babywear range.

The capsule range which is being launched as fc:baby will include designs for both genders and will be available in five sizes: 0-3 months, 3-6 months, 6-9 months, 9-12 months and 12-18 months. The new baby clothes collection will be available from the end of August in select London and Manchester stores as well as from the French Connection website.

The new french connection babywear range will feature all in ones and full length bodysuits as well as bodysuits, tops, bottoms and hats all made in soft jersey for both style and comfort.

For the boys, the clothing comes in an understated palette of traditional blue or the option to go grey or white. Girls - as well as having the obligatory pink and purple clothes to choose from - can also take their pick from navy and white options.

Plain designs are also available for parents who want to give their baby a more discreet look, while star print pyjama tops can be paired with stripy trousers to give an alternative funkier look for infants who want to make an impression. Sleep suits with drawstring bottoms or elasticated waists and retro button-up detailing will be available in toned down stripes or bold and kitsch flower prints in crimson or grey.

In keeping with the classical designs, the fc:baby collection will also offer tops with thin horizontal stripes for boys and polka dot patterns for the girls for a timeless day wear look, along with stuffed toy rabbits in prints and fabrics from the range.

French Connection announces details of ladieswear for Autumn/Winter 2009

French Connection, the High Street clothing specialists, has delivered details of its ladieswear collection for Autumn/Winter 2009.

French Connection has injected a casual diffusion range into the main collection, paying special attention to cut, fit, premium materials and quirky little twists.

The casual diffusion line is a collection of everyday pieces. Womens T-shirts take on a new form with oversized proportions adorned with abstract and playful prints. Special attention has been paid to denim with ultra skinny indigo wash to 80s bleached stone wash jeans. Playful outerwear continues with wet look hooded bombers and subtle zebra print drawstring parkas.

The main French Connection collection introduces a range full of diversity that fits together in unexpected ways. Underpinning the range is smart attention to detail, a rarity that you only find with vintage.

Lorna Perrin, director of marketing and PR at French Connection, said: "This season we have concentrated on key trends including the 80s with shoulder pads, deluxe sequin embellishment, exposed zips and fierce tailoring while giving everything a French Connection twist. Leather jackets, pencil skirts and trousers have added a tough luxe edge to the collection."

Dresses have evolved in both sharp tailored fabrics and draped jersey with totally tropical prints. Necklines are square with shoulders given 80s power woman presence, with skirts staying tulip with front pleating and wrap over detailing. Eastern China vase prints adorn strapless dresses and oversized box shifts. Womens knitwear creates easy-to-wear versatile styles with geometric contrasting panels. Knitwear is updated with kitsch and vintage embellishment, overlapping loop details on collars and cuffs and faux fur trims.

The outerwear range is inspired with new silhouettes, from oversized masculine designs in mustard hues, a little red riding hood swing style to grey with solid military hardware. Exaggerated proportions are also evident in collars, bell sleeves and strong empire lines. The classic leather jacket is given a new slim line edge with super soft leather and gold fastenings.

Owl, wolf, tiger and rabbit prints give a playful nod to this year’s bicentenary of Charles Darwin’s birth, appearing cleverly across silks, t-shirts and shirts. The collection is drawn together in an autumnal colour palette of greys, black, mustard and rich red with splashes of tropical brights and high shine metallics.

French Connection announces menswear Autumn/Winter 2009 ranges

French Connection has revealed the details of its menswear range for Autumn/Winter 2009.

The season starts off with a prison story, presenting styles and details with a heavily distressed penitentiary influence. The collection then moves on to revel in a horror theme where colour, texture, and print work symbiotically to convey the move in to darkest winter. Finally, the range leads in to Christmas with a colourful and kitsch mountaineering inspired collection guaranteed to get you on the go.

French Connection enters the season with a nod to 1930's workwear. Soft powder pinks and Oxford blues are complemented by micro spots and stripes and vintage bib or removable collar detailing. The mood darkens with the introduction of the Gothic, including Beetlejuice striped shirts, motor jackets in leather, or a maroon wool suit with white tipping and buttons. The mountaineering story provides technical down-filled removable linings, ropes and toggles, paired with fashionable gingham shirts and covetable knitwear.

Lorna Perrin, director of marketing and PR at French Connection, said: "For French Connection menswear we have focused on preppy chic blazers and shirts, while knitwear is given original design twists, and tailoring is fashion forward in quality fabrics and designs. The younger FCUK sub-brand leads the way in stylish streetwear with checked shirts, authentic denims, fun graphic tees and battered leathers."

FCUK presents vibrant street sportswear with highlights of 'pop' colours. Bold dark wash denim and a base monochrome palette are livened up with bright piping on baseball jackets and bold prints. Bright colours prevail with hip-hop style retro track tops and alternative windbreakers with multi seams and jersey collars.

French Connection's other main line, FC72, this season focuses on heavy detailing to liven up staples such as a cotton donkey jacket or denim dungarees. Overdying, paint-splattering, crushed knits, and heavy stitching all lend to a distressed penitentiary feel, solidified with a fun barbed wire stripe print. The season ends on a softer note, with brushed cottons and cosy bright chunky knits with fairisle detailing.

French Connection is also placing a high emphasis on mens accessories this season. Men's bags are the main focus, but a complete collection of ties, hats, cuff links and leather belts are also available.
