British Airways increases number of flights to Spain

British Airways has announced it is adding to its Spanish routes portfolio from London City Airport.

The airline is re-launching its year-round flights to Barcelona, with this previously summer-only service resuming at the end of March 2010 and continuing through the summer and winter.

In addition, an extra Saturday morning service will be introduced in May, bringing the total number of flights to seven per week.

British Airways is also launching new services to Majorca and Ibiza in May and currently operates flights to Madrid, Spain's capital.

Luke Hayhoe, commercial manager for BA CityFlyer, the wholly owned British Airways subsidiary who will operate the service, said: "The Spanish destinations are proving extremely popular from London City Airport. Barcelona has traditionally operated as a summer only destination but there is a big demand from both business and leisure passengers for us to continue through the winter."

The British Airways flights include complimentary food and drinks on board, free on-line check-in and seat selection 24-hours before departure and free baggage allowance.

British Airways offer a number of holidays in Spain, including city breaks to Barcelona or Madrid, outdoor holidays in hotspots like Costa Brava and Costa del Sol or foodie holidays in Andalusia, Galicia or Madrid. Customers can choose from 2 - 5* hotels like the recently opened prestigious 5* Mandarin Oriental in Barcelona offering amazing views of the city’s skyline from a sun bed lined rooftop terrace to the 3* Tirol in Madrid for the budget-conscious.

Avis car rental is available with British Airways through ba.com.
