Pelosi and Schumer: No White Home go to Tuesday

Pelosi and Schumer will try to meet with Senate Majority Leader Mitch Mc Connell and House Speaker Paul Ryan in the afternoon they said

The two Democrat leaders did not show up for a meeting at the White House after Mr Trump accused democratic congressional leaders of scheming to use their leverage to increase taxes and deluge the U.S. with undocumented immigrants.

“They’ve been all talk and they’ve been no action, and now it’s even worse”. With just eight business days remaining before the money runs out, Democrats expected (and needed) to forge ahead in negotiations with the Republican leadership and the White House, but Trump’s unprompted jab at their immigration policy made it all but impossible for Pelosi and Schumer to be seen joining Trump at the table.

“I never refused to go to a meeting that President Obama called, a bipartisan meeting”, McConnell said.

Donald Trump probably thought his decision to pose between two empty seats reserved for missing Democratic leaders was a stroke of genius – or in his own words “smart” – but it has backfired and the USA president has been roundly mocked. “The administration has to be a part of the ultimate negotiation of what the spending level is going to be”.

“‘They’ve been all talk and no action, ‘ Trump says of Chuck and Nancy, as he sits in a meeting room with empty chairs for them”, quipped one of NPR’s editors, Domenico Montanaro. “There is a meeting at the White House this afternoon, and if Democrats want to reach an agreement, they will be there”. In it, Mr. Trump previewed the scheduled meeting with “Chuck and Nancy” but sounded grim about chances for an agreement.

He added: “If it happens, it’s going to be over illegals pouring into the country, crime pouring into the country, no border wall, which everyone wants”. “I don’t see a deal!” he said. “We hope it doesn’t get to that”, Shah said.

“It should have been the beginning of an important negotiating session”, Durbin said.

Mrs. Pelosi took to Twitter to deliver a spanking to the president.

An undeterred Mr. Trump took to Twitter on Tuesday evening to excoriate the Democrats again by accusing them of jeopardizing national security with shutdown threats. Dems shouldn’t hold troop funding hostage for amnesty & illegal immigration. Trump wants a big, handsome border wall.

Trump’s comments highlight the sticking points between Democrats and Republicans as the December 8 deadline to avert a government shutdown looms.

But Republican leaders McConnell and Ryan dismissed the Democrats’ offer and challenged them to attend the White House meeting if they wished to negotiate over a spending plan. Now in control of all three levers, Republicans would suffer even more from a shutdown, Democrats said.
