Lemar, Keita, Goretzka and Mahrez – Every player linked with Liverpool so far this January

Are you sick of it yet?

January is only 12 days old, but it feels a whole lot longer.

That’s the transfer window for you.

Liverpool have already completed two huge deals, signing Virgil van Dijk and selling Philippe Coutinho.

But the rumour mill has them involved in plenty more before the month is out. They should fit a revolving door at Melwood, if the gossip columns are to be believed.

While Jurgen Klopp, Michael Edwards and the Reds’ recruitment staff work behind the scenes to strengthen the squad at Anfield, here’s a look at the names that have been linked with Liverpool already this month.

Expect the list to grow by the time we reach January 31, too…

Liverpool’s January transfer window 2018

Coutinho and Dembele

Naby Keita

Coutinho and the Dortmund stars

Naby Keita

An obvious place to start. The RB Leipzig midfielder is already a Liverpool player, but the Reds are keen on bringing forward his move to Merseyside.

Thomas Lemar

Liverpool tried to sign the Monaco midfield ace back in the summer, and would be keen to do so if the opportunity arose in this window. Monaco would be reluctant sellers.

Leon Goretzka

Another midfielder, the German international is out of contract at the end of the season and Liverpool’s interest was reported in the ECHO as far back as October. Bayern Munich, though, appear favourites for now.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Borussia Dortmund

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Borussia Dortmund striker is perennially linked with a move to Anfield, and his future at Signal Iduna Park looks uncertain despite his brilliant goalscoring record.

Riyad Mahrez

Liverpool quickly distanced themselves from this one, with reports having suggested the Leicester City winger was close to a £40m switch.

Kevin Strootman

Roma midfielder is back from long term injury and impressing in Serie A. Roma, though, would reportedly listen to offers for the Dutch international.

Dani Ceballos

Real Madrid midfielder has apparently expressed his desire to leave the Bernabeu due to a lack of playing time. Spanish reports claim Liverpool are among a host of clubs interested.

Jack Butland

Courted by Liverpool as a teenager, the Stoke goalkeeper’s name has cropped up again in recent weeks, with The Independent claiming he is on a list of potential replacements for Simon Mignolet/

Alisson

Another goalkeeper, the Roma star has been linked with Liverpool in the past week with Italian and English reports running the line.

Jan Oblak

And another keeper. Atletico Madrid’s Slovenian star is another name touted as a possible long-term Reds target.

Ivan Rakitic

Predictable link with Barcelona’s Croatian midfielder, who faces fresh battle for his place with Coutinho having arrived.

Manuel Lanzini

West Ham star suggested as possible signing following Coutinho’s exit, with fee of around £30m suggested.

Manuel Akanji

Basel defender may be one for the longer term, with The Independent reporting interest back in December. The 22-year-old is also wanted by Dortmund, among others.

Jean-Michael Seri

Linked heavily with Liverpool in the summer, Nice would apparently be ready to sell in January – for as little as £20m too.

James Tarkowski

Burnley defender has been impressive this season, and is rumoured to be attracting interest from Liverpool AND Chelsea.

Hirving Lozano

Highly-rated winger from PSV Eindhoven is said to be on Liverpool’s list of potential targets. Mexican international would cost around £40m, mind.

Kevin Trapp

And another goalkeeper! Liverpool have apparently been ‘offered the chance’ to sign the German from PSG in January.

Sime Vrsaljko

The Atletico Madrid full back was suggested as a potential Reds target by Italian reports, only for his club to insist that he would not be sold any time soon. Confusing.

Alejandro Gomez

Atalanta attacking midfielder mentioned as possible Coutinho replacement by Italian media, though at 29 he would seem to be a little too old for that.

Stefan De Vrij

Another player who is out of contract this summer, the Dutch centre back has apparently been told by Lazio that he can leave in January. Liverpool, though, have already signed the other Dutchman…

James Maddison

Young midfielder was targeted by the Reds two years ago when at Coventry, but joined Norwich instead. Now shining in the Championship, he’s attracting interest from a number of top clubs.

Ben Brereton

Another highly rated England youth international, the Nottingham Forest striker impressed in sinking Arsenal in the FA Cup and has been backed for a move to Anfield.

Domingos Quina

Young West Ham winger was linked with Liverpool last month with the Hammers reportedly looking to sell. ‘Concrete interest’ was reported, but certainly hasn’t been firmed up yet.
