Toronto Blue Jays closer Roberto Osuna was arrested Tuesday after being charged with assaulting a woman.
Per The Athletic’s John Lott, the Toronto Police Service charged Osuna with one count of assault. The Blue Jays pitcher was released from custody and has a court appearance scheduled for June 18.
Constable Jenifferjit Sidhu, per Lott, noted the police didn’t reveal specifics of the situation since such information could potentially identify the woman involved.
Osuna could be subject to a suspension by Major League Baseball under its domestic violence policy.
Now in his fourth MLB season, Osuna has appeared in 15 games for the Blue Jays in 2018. The 23-year-old has a 2.93 ERA and nine saves this season.
