Mohamed Salah has been named on the shortlist for PFA Player of the Year.
But the Liverpool star will have to beat three Manchester City players – including Kevin de Bruyne – to beat if he is to follow in the footsteps of Luis Suarez and Steven Gerrard.
The Egyptian was expected to be part of the six-man shortlist after a remarkable debut season at Anfield, scoring 39 goals so far.
The former Roma man has been named alongside De Bruyne, Leroy Sane and David Silva from the Premier League champions elect.
Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea and Tottenham striker Harry Kane make up the sextet.
Salah will be hoping to emulate Suarez (2014) and Gerrard (2009) in receiving the award since the Premier League was established.
The winner will be announced at the PFA’s annual awards ceremony in London on Sunday, April 22.
