The much anticipated Black Shark gaming smartphone, backed by Xiaomi has been unveiled officially in Beijing, China alongside the company’s first gaming laptop. The device can be connected to the phone via Bluetooth and it has a 340 mAh battery which can last up to 30 gaming hours.
The Xiaomi Black Shark is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 and Adreno 630 GPU, with either 6 GB or 8 GB of RAM and either 64 GB or 128 GB of native storage, depending on the model. On the front, there’s a 6-inch 1080p 18:9 display, although it’s unknown if it offers a 120 Hz refresh rate like Razer’s handset. Furthermore, the phone comes with powerful battery of 4,000 mAh.
However, Xiaomi’s Black Shark, with its liquid cooling, internals and the ecosystem that Xiaomi’s trying to build around it, can give you the best possible gaming experience on the Android platform for now. The smartphone measures 161.62 x 75.4 x 9.25 mm and weighs 190 grams. It also supports DCI-P3 color gamut that covers up to 97 percent with brightness up to 550 nits.
Xiaomi also made sure the device didn’t lack in the battery department, and that’s laudable.
The Black Shark comes with a dual camera set-up at the back: a primary 12MP lens and secondary 20MP lens with dual LED flash.
Android 8.0 Oreo powers the device which is layered with Xiaomi’s Joy UI. The front camera will sport a 20MP sensor with f/2.2 aperture. To further boost this, there is a new image processing chip by MEMC onboard that brings sharper colors and overall smooth performance when needed.
Apart from the usual power/lock, volume up and volume down keys, the Black Shark also has a physical key on the left-hand side of the device, called the “SHARK” key that activates high-performance mode for gaming. The phone also has a fingerprint sensor placed at the bottom of the display.
There is no denying that both the devices are good options for gaming. The Xiaomi black shark comes in two colour models that are polar night and sky grey. As of now, it will only be available in China as nothing has been said about the global availability of the device. It is now available for pre-order in China through Xiaomi Mall, Jingdong, and Mi Japan and will go on sale starting April 20.
