Browns Reportedly Making ‘A Big Run’ At Nate Solder

Patriots offensive lineman Nate Solder

Earlier in the day on Tuesday it was reported that free agent Danny Amendola would be leaving the New England Patriots in favor of the Miami Dolphins.

So how do Thomas and Solder compare?

Out of respect, the Browns are giving Thomas all the time and space he needs to make his decision. Ebner suffered a knee injury in November that prematurely ended his 2017 season. He was a right tackle as a rookie.

I don’t think they’re going to have Hubbard protecting their quarterback’s blind side either. In his seven seasons as a pro, the Colorado product has yet to be selected to a single Pro Bowl, although he has helped anchor the offensive line of two Super Bowl-winning teams.

The Browns have about $78 million in salary cap room available. Solder said that he prefers to stay with the Patriots, but the Browns would be able to offer him money that the Patriots simply couldn’t offer. Giardi also reported that the Denver Broncos and Houston Texans appear to be the frontrunners to sign him. He is due a $3 million roster bonus on March 18.

The New York Giants entered the league’s legal tampering period with All-Pro guard Andrew Norwell as their No. 1 target, and they were widely considered the favorites to sign him.

The Browns are just the latest team to be connected to Solder. After getting the OK from trainers he has been in the Browns facility nearly daily, working out as much as he can while going through injury rehab.

Drafted No. 17 overall by the Patriots in the 2011 NFL Draft, Solder has been the starting left tackle for New England since the 2012 season. “He knows how to get himself ready to play if he decides to play”. According to the Boston Globe’s Ben Volin, the Cleveland Browns have joined the mix and are making a “big run” at Solder. They have had a losing record in 10 straight seasons since then.
