Iran’s guard corps thwart suicide attacks in SE province


TEHRAN, March 12 (Xinhua) — Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) announced on Monday that its forces have thwarted twin suicide attacks in the southeastern Sistan and Baluchistan province near the border with Pakistan.

The two attackers intended to target a border outpost belonging to the IRGC ground force on Sunday night.

One of the assailants was driving a truck loaded with explosives and the other had a suicide belt.

According to the IRGC report, one of the attackers blew himself up before being captured, wounding two Iranian forces. The other assailant was killed by the guards.
