New butcher’s shop to open in Long Eaton

It will be opening in a few weeks

A new butcher’s shop is set to open in Long Eaton town centre next month.

Work began today on an empty unit in High Street to transform it into Willowtree Family Butchers. It’s the second shop for Reece Thornton, and comes six months after opening in Heanor.

He is confident the shop will give the town’s supermarkets a run for their money.

“We are bringing a brand new concept to Long Eaton,” said Reece, who runs the business with the help of his fiancée Lisa, dad and step-mum, two brothers, father-in-law and sister-in-law.

“We do offer some fantastic deals. We are cheaper than supermarkets and have better quality service and meat. People want to know where the meat comes from these days.”

Willowtree will open in the former premises of florist Stems from the Heart, which now trades from Station Road.

An opening date in April will be announced shortly with plenty to look forward to. Reece promised: “The first 50 customers will get a free gift and there will be free samples and champagne.”

Long Eaton resident Kathleen Thorpe was amongst residents who welcomed the news. She said: “There hasn’t been a butcher that end of town since Bramley’s in Main Street closed.

“There used to be lots of butchers’ shops in Long Eaton. Dewhursts, Hooleys, Co-op, Woolley and Brentnalls to name a few. Hopefully it will bring some needed foot-fall to that end of the High Street and I wish them every success.”

Customers have no complaints about the Heanor shop judging by the number of five star reviews on the butcher’s Facebook page.

Alison Bamford said: “Omg this chicken was amazing – the flavour was all the way through the chicken. Daughter had the hunter’s chicken and has not stopped raving about it! The service from the young ladies was exceptional. The food amazing and the price was perfect . One very happy customer and will certainly be recommended to everyone I know.”

Claire Nicola Mathias posted: “Go in every week for a meat pack and it has cut my weekly shopping bill massively! Always thought it would be more expensive to shop at a quality butchers but totally wrong! Great quality, plentiful portions and ever changing produce makes this the BEST butchers!! Nothing is too much trouble for the staff, a great addition to Heanor.”
