When it comes to off-roading, the Subaru Forester is unlikely to become the first vehicle to appear in your head. This cannot be helped as the Forester is rarely viewed as a serious off-roader and this is due to the vehicle lacking a pure 4WD setup.
When compared to the Ford F-150 Raptor or the Jeep Wrangler, the Forester is barely an afterthought in the off-road realm and the situation is even worse if we are to talk about an old Forester instead of the latest model.
As such, we are surprised when an early-2000s Subaru Forester that runs on stock AWD and powertrain is able to create an upset at a major off-roading event located here in the US.
The event needs every participating vehicle to climb a steep and sandy hill and the Forester completed the task without breaking a sweat. The result of the contest saw the Forester only losing to the Jeep Wrangler and the Ford Raptor by a narrow margin.
This is an indication of how great the AWD setup from Subaru truly is and it fully deserves our praises.
