Guoman's The Royal Horseguards named London Hotel of the Year
04 Oct 2010

Guoman's five star The Royal Horseguards has scooped the prestigious accolade of London Hotel of the Year, receiving the sought-after award at the renowned AA Hospitality Awards 2010 – 2011.

AA Hotel Services group area manager Giovanna Grossi said: "We selected The Royal Horseguards Hotel as AA Hotel of the Year for London because this historic hotel has risen from the ashes, successfully managing the transformation from a commercial four star hotel to an impressive five star property. A stylish refurbishment programme, heavy investment in staff training and development, a very low staff turnover and consistently high all round standards make it worthy of recognition."

Attended by world-renowned chefs, prominent hoteliers, hospitality gurus and key industry media, the AA Hospitality Awards recognise and reward the excellent services provided by the UK's very best establishments and high achieving individuals, and launch the 2011 AA guides to UK hotels and restaurants.  Selection is made based on overall excellence and the specific achievements throughout the previous year.

Anna-Marie Dowling, General Manager of the elegant Whitehall property commented: "For The Royal Horseguards to be recognised by our industry peers in this way is just fantastic and real testament to our dedicated team and their commitment in creating our charming five star guest experience. We really were in excellent company in the shortlist category and were both delighted, and proud to be awarded the official title of London Hotel of the Year."

Heiko Figge, Managing Director Guoman & Thistle Hotels added: "The recognition of The Royal Horseguards from the AA clarifies the hotel's strong position within the London hotel arena; whereby some of the world's most prestigious, luxury hotels have a presence. Guoman Hotels is a collection of exceptionally-positioned London properties and The Royal Horseguards is our five-star flagship - this award further marks out our position as a leading five star hotel in the capital."

Overlooking the River Thames, The Royal Horseguards is perfectly positioned in the historic heart of London, just yards from Westminster and Downing Street. Built in 1884 in the style of a French château, the grade I listed, luxurious 281 bedroom hotel offers a choice of bedrooms and suites, many with magnificent views over The Thames - making the property one of the most charming hotels in London.
