Luxury Store Backs Women of the Year Event

Birmingham’s Harvey Nichols is putting its full support behind this year’s Women of the Year Luncheon and Awards by staging a top class fashion show for its high profile guests.

The showpiece awards ceremony will be held on Friday October 15 and this most luxurious of stores has been called upon to add a dash of style to the event. As well as the professionally-staged catwalk show, Harvey Nichols will also be offering fashion and beauty demonstrations and give guests on the day the chance to shop the very latest must-haves.

More than 700 women are expected to attend the high profile event, staged at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole, adjacent to the NEC. It will feature guest speakers the American comedienne, Ruby Wax, and the very English pottery entrepreneur, Emma Bridgewater. Suzanne Virdee, the BBC news presenter, will exclusively announce the coveted Businesswoman of the Year award.

“We are delighted to be working with such a prestigious event,” said Kevin Breese, General Manager of Harvey Nichols Birmingham. “We are extremely well known for offering the business community of this city the very best in designer brands, and this will introduce us to an even wider audience.”

Judy Groves, Awards Chair, added: “To have such fabulous support from Harvey Nichols is going to ensure a very glamorous event. The store’s fashion shows have become famous for showcasing the very best labels around and guests will have the chance to ‘shop the show’ for the very first time.”

Tickets for Women of the Year Luncheon and Awards cost £55 per person, up to and including 31 August 2010, or £60 thereafter. It has raised over £500,000 for official charity, Vitalise, which provides short breaks, respite care and other services for disabled people, the visually impaired and carers.
