Jamie Redknapp believes that Chelsea should look at Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe if they ever need to replace Antonio Conte.
With the Premier League champions going through a frustrating spell where they have only won two games since the start of the new year, there is inevitable talk about Conte’s future.
And no matter how much support he may get from fans and his own players, the footballing world knows the Chelsea policy involves sacking a manager who fails – even if it is for a single season.
And Redknapp thinks Howe would be a good replacement.
“It looks like Antonio Conte is clinging to the Chelsea job by his fingertips. If the club make a change this summer, why not go for Eddie?” he said.
“The time will come when Howe feels he has outgrown Bournemouth and he is more than capable of becoming Chelsea’s first permanent British manager since Glenn Hoddle in 1996.”
