Arsenal are scrambling to secure Aaron Ramsey to a new contract.
The Daily Mail says Ramsey, who scored a hat-trick against Everton at the weekend, is inside the final 18 months of his contract and is yet to agree a new deal.
And there is growing anxiety at Arsenal that Mesut Ozil’s new £350,000-a-week deal will cause problems in trying to get the Wales international to commit.
Talks over a new deal have opened but are dragging. Ramsey currently earns in the region of £110,000-per-week, but he will expect a sharp pay rise, particularly given last month’s splurge on contracts.
Wenger is desperate to keep Ramsey, but the Gunners are now facing the prospect of paying over the odds to keep the talented midfielder.
If an agreement is not reached, the Gunners will be forced to consider Ramsey’s future in the summer to avoid him leaving for nothing at the end of the next season.
