Superbreak announce new The Wizard of Oz theatre break package
24 May 2010

Superbreak, the York based short break specialist, has announced its latest range of theatre break packages for the new production of The Wizard of Oz.

Theatre legend Andrew Lloyd Webber has been sprinkling his magic over the new production with his search for Dorothy on BBC TV's Over The Rainbow. Previous TV auditions shows such as 'Any Dream Will Do' and 'How Do You Solve a Problem like Maria?' have proved incredibly successful for the West End and attracting new audiences to Theatreland.

Superbreak has found these other shows to be hugely popular with its traditional customer base selling over 20,000 packages combined for Joseph and The Sound of Music. With over 5.4 million people watching each weekend, the York based theatre break specialist is expecting The Wizard of Oz musical to be a huge hit.

The winner, Danielle Hope has dazzled TV audiences over the past 10 weeks and is now set to do the same at London's biggest theatre - The Palladium is a colossal theatre seating over 2,000 people. It was also where The Sound of Music opened over four years ago, starring Connie Fisher, the first winner of the BBC series.

David Thomas, Head of Theatre at Superbreak, said: "I've been totally blown away by the quality of the contestants on the BBC show combined with the prospect of a spring opening at the world famous London Palladium. It's a great addition to the Superbreak theatre package range."

Developed from the ever popular MGM screenplay this new production contains all the much-loved songs from the Oscar winning movie score, all the favourite characters and iconic moments, plus a few surprises along the way. Theatre goers will be able to click their heels together and join Scarecrow, Tin Man, Lion, Dorothy and her little dog Toto, as they journey through the magical land of Oz to meet the Wizard.
